Blacktown Hindus want Mike Meyers film banned

BLACKTOWN’S Hindu community has called for a boycott of Mike Myers’ new film The Love Guru.

They say the movie, which is scheduled for a nationwide release on Thursday, July 10, goes too far at making fun of the Hindu faith.

Sajana Nand (pictured), president of the Australian Hindu Multicultural Association, said he believed a comedy should make people laugh but not at the expense of ridiculing faith or spreading misinformation.

“It’s us today but could be your community tomorrow,” he said.

Mr Nand, who is also the secretary of Blacktown Migrant Resource Centre management committee, called on other religious and community leaders to support the boycott.

We support free speech,” he said. “But our faith is sacred and attempts at belittling it has hurt the devotees.

“Humour is a part of our society. Our folk plays and stories are full of parody, satire and buffoonery.”

American Hindu leader Rajan Zed, who has called for a boycott in the US, said the antics of Myers’ character, Guru Pitka, mocked the institution of guru.

“Guru is allied with the divine,” he said. “Guru bestows spiritual knowledge, free from selfish objectives. But the guru in The Love Guru instigates a bar fight, repeatedly tells penis jokes, wears female jewellery, makes his disciples drink tea passed through his nose and lives in a lavish ashram with scantily clad maids.”

Nobody is forcing these people to watch the movie… Don’t like the idea of this movie? Then don’t watch it, simple as that!

Blacks robbing, assaulting and raping Hispanics

The Coatesville Police Department continues to receive reports of black city residents robbing, assaulting and raping Hispanic immigrants, according to Police Chief William Matthews.

And, if the activity is not stopped, police say it could trigger the formation of violent Hispanic gangs as a type of cultural protection.

With the city’s black community, growing immigrant population - many of whom do not speak English - combined with the city’s social issues, “It’s not long before you have black-on-brown crime,” said Matthews. “And we’re seeing the beginning of that.”

Matthews, who first spoke publicly about the problem last fall, spoke candidly on the issue Thursday during a community crime meeting.

Matthews said African Americans are targeting Hispanics who are vulnerable. The victims do not speak English and often do not report crimes to the police out of fear their immigration status will be questioned, he said.

African Americans are responsible for robbing, assaulting and raping Hispanics, as well as invading their homes, Matthews said.

“A segment of our community - the African American community - is preying on them,” he said.

Matthews said some immigrants do not trust the police in their home countries and the mindset travels with them here.

“They view police as a criminal gang and rightfully so. And they’re afraid if they call the police, someone in their family will be deported,” Matthews said.

The fear causes crime victims to keep quiet. Therefore, Matthews said, police only know about a fraction of the crimes against Hispanics.

If the issue is not dealt with soon, Matthews said, the city could face the worst crime it has ever seen when Hispanic victims or their relatives resort to forming notoriously violent gangs, like MS-13, to defend their community.

Drugs found concealed in woman’s suitcase

A 22-YEAR-OLD woman is facing drug importation charges after 2.4kg of heroin was allegedly discovered in her luggage at Perth Airport.

Customs officers said Malaysian citizen Puspa Letchumy Kasinathan, 22, flew into Perth from Hong Kong yesterday, allegedly carrying 2.4 kg of heroin in a hidden compartment of her case.

They said an X-ray of the bag revealed the compartment and drug packages.

Australian Federal Police are analysing the purity of the haul, which was initially estimated to have a street value of $700,000.

Ms Kasinathan faces a possible life sentence if found guilty.

She was remanded in custody to reappear in Perth Magistrates Court on July 25.

Another invader caught trying to pollute our streets with drugs. Instead of paying millions of taxpayers money to keep this woman locked up she should be deported instead.

Benbrika just a ‘big mouth, not terrorist’

THE man accused of leading a terrorist group which intended to conduct violent jihad in Australia was a braggart who was ridiculed by some of his followers, according to his lawyer.

The Victorian Supreme Court today heard that Abdul Nacer Benbrika (pictured) was well-regarded for the religious advice and instruction he offered to fellow Melbourne muslims and also delivered sermons at mosques around the city.

But he was also a man with a variety of personal shortcomings, lawyer Remy Van de Wiel, QC, told the court.

“He doesn’t seem to have many skills,” Mr Van de Wiel told the jury.

The Algerian-born Benbrika, 48, who is also known to his associates as Abu Bakr and Sheikh, is charged with directing the activities of a terrorist organisation and other terror-related charges. He is on trial with 11 other Melbourne men in Australia’s largest ever terrorist case.

On the second day of his closing address, Mr Van de Wiel painted a picture of a man who lacked worldliness and certain basic knowledge, and who pandered to his audience of young devotees, who in turn mocked and ridiculed him.

“He seems to be under the impression that you can drive to Tasmania,” Mr Van de Wiel said.

“He doesn’t even have a great deal of knowledge about things you might think he should know about.”

Mr Benbrika also had scant knowledge of computers and “can’t spell Google”, his lawyer said.

Fraud Squad investigates ATM tampering at Sutherland

POLICE want to speak to this man (pictured left) in relation to tampering with ATMs at Sutherland during the past two months.

NSW Police Fraud Squad investigators believe several people could have been involved in the scam where facades are placed over machines and data is captured.

Detective Superintendent Colin Dyson said the offenders used sophisticated equipment to scan the card and a hidden camera recorded the pin number. The details are put onto a blank card which is used to withdraw money from the victim’s account.

Police believe that a man who has been caught on video footage could help them with inquiries. He is described as Asian in appearance, 45-55 years, about 173-centimetres tall and of medium build.

Joe Horn cleared of Texas burglar shootings

A Texas man who shot and killed two men he suspected of burgling his neighbour’s home has been cleared by a grand jury.

Joe Horn, 61, shot the two men in November after he saw them crawling out the windows of a neighbour’s house in the Houston suburb of Pasadena.

Horn called authorities and told the emergency dispatcher he had a shotgun and was going to kill the men. The dispatcher pleaded with him not to go outside, but Horn confronted the men with a 12-gauge shotgun and shot both in the back.

“The message we’re trying to send today is the criminal justice system works,” Harris County district attorney Kenneth Magidson said.

Horn’s lawyer, Tom Lambright, has said his client believed the two men had broken into his neighbour’s home and he shot them only when they came into his yard and threatened him.

The suspected burglars, Hernando Riascos Torres, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, were unemployed illegal immigrants from Colombia. Torres was deported to Colombia in 1999 after a 1994 cocaine-related conviction.

Muhammedan on child pornography charges

A BROADMEADOWS man who said he was once ordered to carry out a terrorist car bombing by the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq has been released on bail pending an appeal against his conviction on child pornography charges.

Mohammad Ali Salih (pictured), 45, of Lahinch St, Broadmeadows, was convicted of possessing and making more than 430,000 pornographic images and movies of children.

He was sentenced at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court yesterday to two years’ jail, with a 12-month non-parole period.

He was also ordered to be kept on the sexual offenders register for 15 years.

Salih’s lawyer, Andrew de Kretser, immediately lodged an appeal and sought bail, which was granted under strict conditions by the magistrate, John Doherty.

In sentencing Salih the magistrate described the Iraqi refugee’s child pornography collecting as a “vile, disgusting and abusive activity”.

Police prosecutor Leading Sen-Constable Ash McCulloch told the court that a police raid on Salih’s home found a total of 435,384 pornographic images and 1192 pornographic movies on a computer and a number of CDs and DVDs.

Mr McCulloch said all the images and movies involved children under 18 in various sexual acts, including some of boys and girls under five involved in anal and vaginal sexual acts with other children and adults.

He said one movie file showed a girl under five in a bondage situation.

Record fine for chicken shop owner

A record fine of $132,000 has been handed to the owner of a chain of Sydney poultry meat shops for a string of food law offences, Primary Industries Minister said today.

Hai Bao Chen, the proprietor of five shops trading as Obo Fresh Chicken, was convicted of 22 charges under the Food Act including unhygienic premises, substandard maintenance and poor pest control.

In February this year, the company was also fined nearly $12,000 for illegally adding sulphur dioxide preservative to chicken mince at its Ashfield shop.

Mr Chen no longer operates the Obo Fresh Chicken business that has shops in Ashfield, Cabramatta, Granville, Ingleburn and Macquarie Fields.

“This proprietor is clearly a serial offender with a history of poor performance going back to 2005, so I’m pleased the court has dealt with him severely,” Mr Macdonald said.

“The list of offences is disturbing and could have had serious health consequences on consumers had the Food Authority not acted to close the business down.”

A summary of the convictions heard in the Chief Industrial Magistrate’s Court include:

  • Fines totalling $35,000 for seven offences at the Ashfield shop, including unclean premises and failure to keep food under temperature control;
  • Fines totalling $42,000 for eight offences at the Cabramatta shop, including inadequate pest control, unclean equipment and premises and inadequate monitoring of a food safety program;
  • Fine of $5000 for failure to identify chicken meat for disposal at the Granville shop;
  • Fines totalling $24,000 for four offences at the Ingleburn shop, including unclean premises and failure to keep 14 barbecued chickens under temperature control; and
  • Fines totalling $12,000 for two offences at the Macquarie Fields shop for failure to keep food under temperature control and inadequate monitoring of a food safety program.

The defendant was also ordered to pay a further $14,000 in legal fees and court costs on top of the $118,000 fine.

The Kiwi flood

AUSTRALIANS should brace themselves for a Kiwi onslaught, according to a population expert who says a New Zealand election later this year will trigger an exodus.

Speaking at the Australian Population Association’s 14th biennial conference in Alice Springs, Professor Richard Bedford from the University of Waikato said an average of 800 New Zealanders a week left for Australia.

“With an election coming up in New Zealand later this year, inevitably there will be a migration issue. There has been one for every election since the early 1990s,” he said.

“The migration issue for 2008, in my view, without doubt, will be the exodus to Australia.”

Prof Bedford’s comments follow the release in June of New Zealand’s latest migration statistics which found that in the year to May 44,749 people left permanently for Australia.

This compared to 37,713 people for the same period the year before.

Prof Bedford said the move was not always permanent and, over time, the figures tended to even out.

“The New Zealand flow to Australia is very significant, and it’s a big component of population change,” he said.

I bet most of these people leaving New Zealand are of non-white background. We do not need to brace ourselves for this Kiwi onslaught because we have been copping it for years because the gates have been wide open between Australia and New Zealand.

Two Chinese arrested over heroin bust at Sydney Airport

TWO Chinese men are under guard in a Sydney hospital while a third has been charged with heroin smuggling, after they arrived on a flight from Hong Kong.

The trio flew into Sydney International Airport yesterday morning where they came to the attention of Customs officials, and then the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

An AFP spokesman said one of the men had passed a package, alleged to contain heroin, while at the airport.

“It will be alleged in court that the man passed a package in the Customs facility that is believed to contain approximately 65 grams of heroin,” he said today.

“Forensics testing will be carried out on the content of the package to confirm the commodity and its exact weight and purity.

These men should just be deported and blacklisted from re-entering Australia. Cheaper then jailing these drug smugglers.

Sexy and violent music clips face Saturday morning bans

SEXY music videos could be banned from Saturday morning TV under a Senate committee proposal to protect children from inappropriate material.

A Senate inquiry into sexualisation of children by the media yesterday called for a review of music video classifications. It also called for the introduction of separate free-to-air TV kids’ channels.

Warning labels may also be placed on teen magazines which contain sexually explicit content. But parent groups accused the committee of being too soft on the advertising industry.

The inquiry heard evidence that young children were regularly being exposed to inappropriate sexual material through TV, magazines and billboard advertising.

Witnesses were particularly concerned by sexually suggestive lyrics and choreography in video clips by artists such as 50 Cent and the Pussycat Dolls and sexual material in magazines read by pre-teens.

In its report, the committee said that preventing the premature sexualisation of children was a significant challenge.

“This is a community responsibility which demands action by society,” the report said.

The committee said the industry run Advertising Standards Bureau should ensure billboards and other outdoor advertisements did not include inappropriate sexual material.

It also said the bureau should pre-check advertisements made by agencies which had previously been the subject of complaints.

This is something that should have been done a long time ago instead of letting Australian children be brainwashed by senseless violence and sexually explicit material. A majority of this brainwashing propaganda in music videos is coming from non-white artists so hopefully this move will rid our television sets of rap and hip hop music…

Sick of the congestion? Time to talk about immigration

By Michael Duffy
June 28, 2008

The congestion problems in the news this week have the same cause as a lot of other problems that make the Herald’s front page. They’re due to our increasing population, or more precisely, our failure to make adequate provision for it.

This might seem obvious, but in fact Sydney is in a state of denial about population increase. We don’t prepare for it adequately and seem constantly surprised that public services and infrastructure fail. When they do, we blame politicians, or climate change, or the greed of people (other people) for cars and houses and air conditioning. Anything but what is often the main cause, population growth.

This comes from births, migration from other parts of Australia, and immigration, but it’s only the last category we have much control over.

This week the Bureau of Statistics announced that last year the nation’s population grew at its fastest rate since 1988. The growth rate was 1.6 per cent, or 331,900 people. Net overseas migration contributed 56 per cent of that increase. As is well known, a large proportion of those people settle in Sydney. But for years, Sydney has just pretended it wasn’t happening..

Water is a good example because it’s so simple. A Water Supply Strategic Review prepared for the Water Board in 1991 noted that since Warragamba Dam had been completed in 1960, Sydney’s water storage capacity had been increased by only 2 per cent. This was despite an increase in population from 2.3 million to 3.6 million. The report noted, given the projected future population increase, “if measures are not taken to provide Sydney with additional storage, early in the next century there will be a real risk of serious water restrictions being necessary”.

The rest is history, but try to find anyone today who will admit our water restrictions are the result of population growth and the failure by governments to respond adequately. Much easier to blame drought and global warming.

The same thing can be seen with other issues. Just this week in the Herald there’s been coverage of a report on road congestion by the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies. Among other things, the report advocates building more roads to keep pace with population increase. The Roads Minister, Eric Roozendaal, rejected the report as the work of “academics in ivory towers”. He also rejected a proposal by the institute for congestion pricing of traffic.

So what do the streetwise guys in government propose as a response to population pressure on our roads? In relation to the size of the problem, just about nothing. When you consider the Bureau of Transport and Regional Economics has predicted an 18 per cent increase in car use by 2020 due to population growth, maybe we need something better.

Pensioner pulls own tooth

A PENSIONER became fed up after being stuck on a dental waiting list for four years - and ended up pulling out his OWN tooth.

Unable to afford his own treatment because he is on disability support, Bega man Jeffrey Miners was added to the waiting list in 2004.

But over four years the pain became too much, forcing the 58-year-old to take matters into his own hands.

Shadow health minister Jillian Skinner today said DIY job was happening often as the State Government dithered on dental care.

“It is simply outrageous that this man has had to pull out his own tooth after the Iemma Government couldn’t see its way clear to give him the dental care he so obviously needs,” she stormed.

“Public dental care in NSW is solely the responsibility of the Iemma Labor Government, which has failed to understand the importance of dental health and refused to allocate funds to treat the tens of thousands on the waiting list.”

Almost 160,000 people are currently on dental waiting lists in NSW.

“They’re waiting to get their teeth fixed - it’s high time Morris Iemma and Health Minister Reba Meagher took action,” Mrs Skinner continued.

It is disgusting that this pensioner had to resort to pulling his own tooth out. Our corrupt government continues to throw millions upon millions of dollars towards immigration and aid towards many third world countries like Afghanistan, East Timor, Zimbabwe and Indonesia, yet the government will not help its own people who need to be looked after. This is one of many pensioners who have been let down due to a corrupt system. Things will only get worse as time goes on!

Three charged over Islamic school fraud

AUSTRALIAN Islamic College founder Abdallah Magar and two of his principals have been charged with fraud in relation to $3 million of Government funding.

The Major Fraud Squad laid the charges after an 18-month investigation into offences alleged to have occurred in relation to the management of the AIC schools in Thornlie, Kewdale and Dianella.

It is alleged the colleges defrauded $653,073 from the WA Government and $2,513,087 from the Federal Government from 2005 to 2006.

Mr Magar (pictured) and the two principals allegedly defrauded State and Federal government student subsidised funding programs by claiming for students who were not attending the colleges.

Mr Magar, 69, of Attadale, was charged today with 10 counts of gaining benefit by fraud for another person and five counts of obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

Mark Brian Debowski, 50, of Nedlands, was charged with two counts of gaining benefit by fraud for another person and one count of obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

Aziz Magdi, 53, of Alfred Cove, was charged with six counts of gaining benefit by fraud for another person and three counts of obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

Police said this morning that the charges resulted from inquiries conducted into material seized from search warrants executed by state police, helped by the Federal Department of Education and Workplace Relations Investigations Unit, at the three colleges on 30 January 2007 and subsequent interviews with witnesses.

A SYDNEY teenager was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to his neck and arms after an argument flared into violence at a unit in Sydney’s west.

Police say the incident occurred about 6pm (AEST) yesterday at a property in Talbot Road, Guildford, and police are looking for two other men.

“An 18-year-old man was stabbed a number of times to the neck and arms during an argument,” a NSW Police Force spokesman says.

“He was taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.”

A crime scene was established at the unit and officers also door-knocked the surrounding properties.

Two men are sought, and they are described only as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance.
